Legion M Returns to Sundance with their prohetic FILM SCOUT app

Fan-owned entertainment company Legion M will return to Sundance Film Festival leveraging their community of passionate fans as they make their film investment decisions. Even before this year’s festival went virtual, Legion M’s executives have utilized their Film SCOUT app to engage fans all over the world as they scout films at Sundance providing early data driven predictive insights for Legion M’s investment and acquisition efforts. Yes, this year’s festival is different. But the Legion M team plans to capitalize on the virtual format to leverage their best asset -- their community.

HOW IT WORKS

Scout is an innovative audience insight gathering and analysis tool that gives its users an unprecedented opportunity to scout films through a fun, gamified app for iOS and Android devices. Anyone can sign up to be a film scout, and fans do not have to be Sundance ticket holders to make their voices heard.

Legion M provides a simple and fun interface that allows their community of scouts to rate and evaluate Sundance film titles. Those who have not seen the films rate their level of interest from available trailers and synopses--the same info you use to choose to select a movie when you browse through Netflix or Amazon. Those that have seen the films provide detailed reviews and evaluation of what they did or did not like . These ratings, when aggregated across all of Legion M’s “scouts,” provide valuable data that guide Legion M’s film acquisition decisions.

PREVIOUS LEGION M FILM SCOUTS

At last year’s Sundance Film Festival, Legion M executives listened to the more than 120k votes on Film Scout to partner with Bleecker Street in acquiring SAVE YOURSELVES!, which they released in October 2020 across select nationwide theaters and VOD services. The film has since been Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an 88% critic score. Two years prior, more than 40,000 votes from Film Scout gave Legion M executives valuable audience insight to acquire the critically-acclaimed documentary MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN by Alexandre O. Philippe and released together with Screen Media (not surprisingly, also certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes - 81% critic, 92% audience).
