Legion M has joined SpectreVision as executive producer and financier in the upcoming feature, Archenemy, a gritty, hard-edged epic that turns the superhero genre on its head, starring Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, True Blood, Rampage) and written/directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer (Daniel Isn’t Real) from a story by Mortimer and Lucas Passmore.

Archenemy is the story of Max Fist, who claims to be a hero from another dimension who fell through time and space to earth, where he has no powers. No one believes his stories except for a local teen named Hamster and his older sister, Indigo. Together, they take to the streets to wipe out the local drug syndicate.

Legion M’s involvement in Archenemy precedes the film’s principal photography. The fan-owned company reunites with SpectreVision after their successful partnering on the 2018 action-thriller Mandy. Legion M helped finance the instant cult-classic film, featuring the critically-acclaimed score written by the late Oscar®-nominated composer Jóhann Jóhannsson.

Legion M brings together more than 100,000 fans from around the world as members of an entertainment company, harnessing the power of fandom to grow its slate of genre-oriented and fan-focused films, television series, and digital projects, including its recently released feature documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien by Alexandre O. Philippe (Leap of Faith) and Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

Archenemy is produced by Daniel Noah, Lisa Whalen and Elijah Wood for SpectreVision, along with Kim Sherman. The film’s other executive producers include SpectreVision’s Stacy Jorgensen and Voltage Pictures’ Babacar Diene.

“Our community called for a sci-fi/superhero project, and we discovered the perfect match in Adam Egypt Mortimer’s gritty noir take on the genre, Archenemy,” said Paul Scanlan, cofounder and CEO of Legion M. “We had a terrific experience with SpectreVision on Mandy, and our community has nearly tripled in size since then. We’re looking forward to continuing this successful relationship with one of Legion M’s biggest bets yet.”

Jeff Annison, Legion M cofounder and president, added, “Our shareholders drive everything we do, and they’ve told us loud and clear they want to back breakout new creators telling truly original stories. We can’t think of better partners than Adam Egypt Mortimer, Joe Manganiello and the team at SpectreVision. We can’t wait to bring our community into the production process for Archenemy.”

“Legion M’s ability to mobilize their fanbase is unparalleled in the genre community. We’re thrilled to re-team with them for Archenemy,” said SpectreVision CEO Lisa Whalen.

Making good on its promise to open the gates to Hollywood for its more than 100,000 members, including 20,000 investors, Legion M will be hosting Archenemy set visits exclusively for select members and investors. Legion M and its fan community will also support a multipronged social media campaign and support the film at various Comic Cons, as well as host fan-meetups when Archenemy debuts at theaters, demonstrating the company’s commitment to investing in its projects both financially and emotionally.
