My Dead Friend Zoe — Feature Film In Development

We're excited to announce a new project on our development slate. Legion M is honored to partner with producer Richard Silverman (ReCre8 Entertainment) and writer/director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes on the feature film My Dead Friend Zoe — an important story about complicated friendships, divided family, and the complex ways we all process grief.

THE STORY
Engaged in a mysterious relationship with her dead best friend from the Army, a female Afghanistan veteran comes head-to-head with her Vietnam vet grandfather at the family's ancestral lake house
.

Kyle Hausmann-Stokes is a veteran of the war in Iraq and an accomplished commercial director, who has produced numerous PSAs and other works for various branches of the military. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch Kyle's video message about his career and pitch for My Dead Friend Zoe; his take on the modern veteran story is both powerful and original, which is why we're so excited to ally with him in trying to see it told.

THE SHORT

The feature film version of My Dead Friend Zoe was originally born from an acclaimed short film by Hausmann-Stokes titled Merit & Zoe. A special screening of Merit & Zoe will take place on Tuesday, September 13 in Washington D.C. — and, we're thrilled to be able to offer a limited number of tickets (passes are first come, first serve) to our East Coast investors and members to attend for free. If you would like to attend, please respond to the form linked below:

GOING FORWARD

In a country that seems more divided by the day, one thing Americans overwhelmingly agree on is support for our military and veterans. We believe My Dead Friend Zoe will be unlike your typical Hollywood war story. It's an apolitical film with an authentic voice, and the potential for significant social impact and awareness.

"MDFZ isn’t a war film-- or a pity party about PTSD. We (filmmakers, veterans) have seen enough of both and are ready to tell a different story. Something unique... authentic... unexpected." - Kyle Hausmann Stokes (Writer/Director)

Stay tuned for more information as we move on to cast, package, and finance this film.
