DIRECTOR OF FINANCE (Controller, CFO)

LOCATION:

  • Work from home with very rare travel to Legion M events including Comic Cons, Film Festivals, and Movie Premieres.

  • Our preference is someone based in Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Legion M executive team to oversee all accounting operations, including, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Expense Tracking/Reimbursement and Revenue Recognition

  • Oversee and direct all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings including the annual audit

  • Implement internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial information

  • Ensure that all established policies, rules, regulations and agreements are followed

  • Assist the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, ensuring that variances are properly reported

  • Provide management with accurate and timely information, models and financial analysis to help make strategic and operating decisions

  • Evaluate investments, acquisitions and expenditures against financial and strategic objectives and make recommendations accordingly

  • Assist in the development, analysis, and interpretation of data in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget/prior year, and other matters bearing on the fiscal health and operating effectiveness of the organization

  • Work cross functionally to maximize opportunities and/or minimize exposure

  • Assess and propose system enhancements and drive process improvement; actively participate in and /or drive system projects where needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Creative, smart, and collaborative

  • 6+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably within an entertainment company

  • Bachelor's Degree required. MBA, CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus

  • Expert-Level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables)

  • Excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills.

  • Entertainment experience preferred (TV and Film).

  • Proven successful track record working in entertainment, digital media and/or e-commerce business models.

  • Ability to thrive in the fast-paced, constantly evolving environment of a growing startup. We’re looking for candidates that are creative, fearless, hard-working, and self-motivated.

  • Good sense of humor and fun to work with. Assholes need not apply.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

Salary dependent upon experience. Overall compensation package will also include health benefits and stock options.
