Meet Team DEFIANT — Working On Our Robert Smalls Feature Film In Development!

Whether you’ve been with Legion M for years or just joined us in Round 9, you’ve probably heard about our feature film in development, DEFIANT.

DEFIANT is the true story of Robert Smalls, the enslaved man who commandeered a Confederate warship in 1862 and sailed it to freedom, saving the lives of his family and friends. He went on to Captain the vessel for the Union Army, eventually attaining the rank of Major General, serving in Congress, and moving into his former master’s home. It’s a truly astounding life.

We’ve produced a kickass video to introduce the team to potential financiers, and we thought it would be a great opportunity for the Legion to get to know these incredible creators working to make this film a reality.

Stay tuned for more DEFIANT updates!

NOTE: "Development" generally refers to the earliest stages of the content production cycle, when production companies invest time, money, and “sweat equity” to create, develop, package, and sell movies, TV series and other entertainment projects. There are millions of scripts and ideas in Hollywood, and while only a very small percentage get made, the potential value of a successful project can be quite large. Every project we develop is a risk we take in the hopes of launching a new movie, series, or franchise. That said, development is one of the most speculative stages in the entertainment business, and the odds of any given project making it to market, to production, or to the screen, are ultimately very low.
