WHAT IS AN ACCREDITED INVESTOR?
The SEC generally defines an accredited investor has someone who meets ONE of the following criteria:
Income over $200,000 per year for the last two years (or $300,000 per year when combined with a spouse).
Net worth over $1 million, excluding your primary residence.
Investment professional in good standing holding a Series 7, Series 65 or Series 82 license.
There are other criteria (including those for entities like partnerships, LLC's and trusts). For more information, please check out the SEC's website.

These larger investments come from sophisticated investors making substantial bets that a company owned by fans has potential to reshape the future of Hollywood.
Both of these investor groups are important to Legion M. First and foremost, our strength comes from our size, which means our $40 and $100 investors are an important part of our competitive advantage. We will never do anything we believe isn't in their best interests.
That said, entertainment is a capital intensive industry. The money we receive from large investors can unlock opportunities Legion M might not otherwise have access to. It can also help us manage limitations of the JOBS Act. For example, moving a single investor with a $5,000 investment from a SOLD OUT Reg CF offering and into a Reg D offering (which can only be legally offered to accredited investors) makes room for 125 $40 investors that might otherwise have been locked out.
