Legion M Does San Diego Comic-Con!

Legion M was in the house in a HUGE way at SDCC just one year after launching!

Thanks to Matan G. and Michelle C, Legion M had an awesome party bus to take people from Los Angeles where we hosted Stan Lee’s Hand and Footprint Ceremony and the Tony Stark House Party, down to San Diego the next day.  Riders were treated (or subjected to, depending on your point of view) some quality one-on-one Paul Scanlan and Jeff Annison time!

San Diego Comic Con didn’t know what hit them!  Legion M t-shirts were seen all around the convention floor and in downtown San Diego, and we hit the ground running.  Shao was out and about with Marilyn, and doing a great job of pitching Legion M to interested fans. And Legion M execs and investors had places to go and people to see.

On Thursday, we partnered with MGM to host their STARGATE panel and fan party, which our own Damian Beurer hosted!  We were very proud to help MGM announce their new Stargate Command platform and digital series STARGATE ORIGINS (no, these are not Legion M productions, but we’re super supportive because Stargate is… well… it’s awesome).

On Friday, our Head of Content Acquisition Terri Lubaroff was on the Comic Book Law School panel, where she spoke about the creative and business choices artists have to make when negotiating contracts and partnerships. As soon as that was over, she ran over to the Stan Lee Tribute Panel, which was standing room only with a line out the door, down the hall and then some!

The Stan Lee Tribute panel had guests Adam Savage (Mythbusters), Felicia Day (The Guild, Geek & Sundry), Max Anderson (CEO of Stan Lee Collectibles), our own Jeff Annison (President of Legion M) and of course, Stan “The Man” Lee himself who saw the first two minutes of his ICONS footage for the first time ever in front of 1000+ fans! He loved it, and so did the audience!

Friday night, thanks to Terri P., we had an awesome Legion M Meetup, and we were so happy to see everyone and how much we’ve grown! We can’t list all of the people who came, but if you have pictures, make sure you share them online!  We’d love to hear your SDCC stories too, so write them up and send them to Terri L.!

Thank you to all who came out, volunteered and networked!

On Saturday, Head of Development David Baxter appeared on the Cospositive panel, which gave several people confidence to try Cosplay – for those of you who are like, “cos-what?” Here is the Wikipedia entry on it!

We also partnered with FOX and hosted the 20th anniversary of the TV debut of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, which was another well-attended fete.  These studio partnerships introduce the immeasurable power of Legion M Fans to the studios and are the first of many steps in finding ways to work together on original projects.

On Sunday, we hosted another Legion M meetup (thanks to Terri P. again!), which brought even more Legion M fans to the table – old and new – it was a pleasure to meet everyone and we can't wait to see you at the next event!

After a day of meetings on Sunday, we were exhausted and headed home Monday morning, with Jeff driving Marilyn with Terri P., Matan G. and Michelle C. – and Terri Lubaroff insisting they stop at Dairy Queen on the way home – at 11:30 a.m. – for a treat.  Well deserved!

All in all, SDCC 2017 was a successful, exhausting and productive endeavor for all.  Hope to see you next year!
